I haven’t been to London since college and on that trip I went a little bit nutty for Harrods, Portobello Road, and queuing. With no money of my own I spent every last dime my father generously gave me on pints, antiques, and Mason Pearson brushes. It was as the Brits say “a right good time” until my debit card bounced and the fun ended. On this trip my priorities had shifted, our four-day trip to London was a food fest.
If by chance you are heading to London, or you are lucky enough to live in London I have only one thing to tell you about: The Clove Club. This divine restaurant and cocktail club in the Shoreditch Town Hall is a food consigners wet dream. Butcher block tables and a completely exposed kitchen compliment the innovative and delicious food. Course after course of mouth-watering morsels were served. Beginning with asparagus and continuing with a homemade sourdough bread with butter whipped out of heaven. Buttermilk fried chicken and rabbit with a carrot glaze were just a few of the many delicious bites we were served. My personal favorite course was desert- an Amalfi lemonade with pepper ice cream.
Kitchen Table is also offering delicious fare. Hidden in the back of Bubbledogs, a restaurant committed to fine champagne and hot dogs, it is well worth the visit for the intimate atmosphere and a close up of some chefs in action.
London is cool, period. There is no end to shopping, chic neighborhoods, museums like the amazing Tate Modern, food, and more. If in town check out: Selfridges, Liberty, Boots, and the PJ section of Primark. SWOON, these stores will have my heart forever. I still love London with men in bespoke suits and women in hats. On Sunday my hubby and I saw a group of men in top hats and tails. Where else in the world would you see that?
